WALTER / QUICK START

A real-scale assembly playground.

  1. Explore. Drag the model to orbit; scroll to zoom. Use X-ray or Inside only to see the electronics.
  2. Take it apart. Use Pull apart, or select a piece and drag a colored axis handle. Move fields use millimetres; rotation uses degrees.
  3. Put it together. Put back resets the selected part; Assemble resets the full assembly. Scaling is locked to preserve component sizes.
  4. Test it. Check fit finds intersections of the current included meshes. Visibility does not remove a part from fit checks. A straight-pull test samples a removal path.
  5. Measure. Select Measure and click two surface points. For on-screen physical size, calibrate the 1:1 ruler with your own ruler.

The 3D view checks dimensions and rigid motion. Heat & power provides separate preliminary calculations for the closed nominal assembly. The original design still requires physical fit and final mounting work.

ON-SCREEN SCALE

Calibrate with a ruler.

Adjust the line below until it measures exactly 100 mm on your physical screen. Browser zoom and moving between monitors change calibration.

100 mm

1:1 uses an orthographic view. A full 366 mm head may extend beyond your screen; pan to inspect it.

MAXWELL TOMS · THRESHOLD / STEPTHRU

AI with a place in your world.

Walter is an independent companion project exploring character, software, and physical embodiment.

What you can try

Walk through the room, take apart the proposed head, interact with the original WalterOS interface, play its included music and character performances, and browse StepThru on the laptop.

My work

I direct Walter’s character and product experience, shape the interface and enclosure concept, and build and integrate the software with AI-assisted development. This room brings those pieces together as an interactive demonstration.

What is still a prototype

The OS uses local browser responses here. Live AI, voice, and physical Pi control are not connected. The enclosure needs physical fit, power, and cooling validation. Selected environment models and materials come from credited third-party sources.
